This is a painting on a piece of discarded 5/8" thick steel plate. I was intrigued by what kind of force could break or tear steel like that and wanted to highlight this and let the humble material tell a story. The red on the edges embrace the the destruction and symbolize blood. The turquoise highlights the thickness while the yellow, black, blue and grey work as a frame to highlight the hole and the torn edge as well as display the erosion that has occurred on the surface. The hole is an eye and the white is the tears to show the pain this piece has endured. Although it is a small piece it is deceptively heavy at nearly 15 pounds!
